NORTHEAST STATE HONORS PROGRAM
Get Involved
When you join the Honors Program, you will join a close-knit community of students who are dedicated to making a meaningful impact and leaving their mark. Therefore, we strive to create opportunities for students to engage in leadership, academics, and service.
Honors Student Association
The Honors Student Association allows honors-eligible students to take ownership of their college experience. By electing their own leadership and planning a calendar of events, the association offers opportunities for student-led programming, service-learning, and leadership development. The association also collaborates with honors faculty and staff to create a positive impact on the campus and honors program, as well as fostering a sense of community and fellowship among its members. Join the Honors Student Association and become part of a community that empowers and engages!
Peer Mentors & Tutors
Northeast State peer mentoring is a program designed to connect first-year students with second year students who have excelled academically. Our mentors are carefully chosen and trained to provide personalized support for each individual mentee, which we believe is key to a student's academic success. Our mentors offer assistance in class registration, soft skills, communicating with faculty, connecting students to campus and community resources, and more. Several of our mentors also serve as peer tutors for writing and statistics. Like mentors, mentor tutors are second year students who have excelled academically with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and they have received a B in the courses in which they offer tutoring. Mentees will receive beneficial guidance and assistance to successfully complete their first year at Northeast State.
Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society that recognizes and promotes commitment to academic excellence in two-year colleges. Our chapter, Alpha Iota Chi, upholds its four hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship with pride and commitment. We are proud to have achieved five-star status, the highest level of participation in Phi Theta Kappa. Check out what our chapter has been up to by clicking on the website link below.
Northeast State Presents Symposium
The Northeast State Presents Symposium gives students the opportunity to present their research, writing, and artwork to an audience of peers. This annual event showcases the exemplary work of Northeast State students and provides a platform for intellectual engagement and creative expression. The 2024 Northeast State Presents Symposium will be held March 13th in the Wayne G. Basler Library.
